This is one of Britten's finest achievements. It is the perfect length and captures the complexity of the poetry to perfection. The edition is a nice one and is in fact the only one available of this set if I am correct.

Winter Words is a major work from Britten's middle 1950s period. Written for Peter Pears on texts by Thomas Hardy, each movement explores the poetry and exploits the piano. I think Britten was a genius!
