The piece itself is great. This review is for the edition. It is not good at all. Way too much crammed onto one page. The clarinet part is in C in the score, so you can't practice from it. The page turns aren't bad. But really, it just...

isn't the best. Can't wait til someone else decides to publish it.

  • August 18, 2012 Great piece!

I heard this performed by Masters student at Auckland University and was so impressed that I had to buy it and perform it myself - a very rewarding piece to play.

This piece challenged my musicality and technique but it helped me improve a lot. It's very fun to play and I love the active role of the piano.

  • January 24, 2009 For Mitchell Lurie

Most people - even the ones who know this piece - do not know that it was written for Mitchell Lurie, a famous clarinetist. I was fortunate enough to play this for a recital, but it just so happened that Lurie passed away the day before my performance! It was kind of...

a tribute to him, I thought. Regardless, this piece is highly contemporary - but with classical influence and even a little jazz thrown in. It requires a lot of work to play well, and it rewards with a great level of satisfaction.

  • November 09, 2007 Challenging and intriguing...

As a college student trying to refine my playing, Time Pieces has both challenged my techique and musicality. I suggest to any player that they at least listen to this piece and explore the incredible melodies and rhythmic patterns of Muczynski.
