    The work has many features of the Venetian style, but is naturallly, less colorful given its subject. I believe that the inner orchestral movements call for some ornamental embellishments in the string parts in keeping with the Venetian manner. Restraint is key. The effect of this work depends upon the...

    ability to get across its overlapping and assymetrical phrases. Its level of difficulty is not beyond the small parish choir, though It may present a problem in that it is SATTB, most such choirs having fewer tenors than other voices. Altos may substitute though not to the same effect. The central section offers good opportunities for soloists. The thieves' parts are good to feature "character" voices.
