If I have to pick a song played in many band festivals I’ve played during 7th-8th grade, I’d select “The King’s Musicke, a deliciously immortal trilogy of works by three British baroque composers in which they are compiled and arranged by good old Philip Gordon. Jeremiah...

Clarke’s (famous for his well-known trumpet voluntary) minuet is of its noble caliber, William Croft of “O God Our Help in Ages Past fame immortalizes his less popular sarabande, and Francis Piggott’s march brings out the reputation of a rare composer from the time of his contemporary, Henry Purcell. This recommendation of a selection for all you early music-loving band directors is so powerful, it can transport you back to Charles II’s (hence the suite’s name) time of his reign and see your band members play this stately work of art donned in breeches and gowns.
