This is an excellent scale book. Only thing is that I wish it had 1 octave scales as well, since that is the starting point.

This book allows for many years of work. Starting with five finger scales and triads, to separate hands one octave, to two hands, to multiple octaves. A thorough book if used to capacity. All of my students use this weekly! Excellent preparation for university level auditions.

All in all, a very good scale book. But I wish some theory had been included to explain what everything means. For example, I had to consult a theory book to find out what "dominant 7th" means. For each of the major scales, you get two pages with the following...

: (1) the scale (2) the scale in contrary motion (3) the scale in thirds (left hand plays regular scale; right hand starts a third higher) (4) the scale in sixths (right hand plays regular scale; left hand is a sixth lower) (5) block triads and inversions and dominant 7th chords (6) broken triads and inversions (7) arpeggios and inversions and dominant 7th arpeggios (8) cadence chords For each of the relative minors, you get the the same thing, except there aren't any thirds or sixths. In their place you get the harmonic and melodic minor scales.
