  • October 17, 2008 A necessity for any jazz drummer.

    This is the best book that I've found that actually going into depth regarding rudiments that all drummers should know. The book also goes into a lot of necessary discussion on other interdependent skills that jazz drummers should have.

    This book contains some difficult material. If you are looking to increase your independance in swing style playing this book is as good as it gets. It's also got a ton of info on rudiments and will help your chops a ton. You need to be able to read...

    basic quarter and eigth note rhythms at the very least to be able to hang with this book...so if ya can't read I would't buy it. If you can though...have fun and work hard.
