Score and study score with the lyrics of Loriot The famous Grande Fantaisie Zoologique can truly be called one of the first compositions for chamber ensemble, since the score was conceived for solo strings. After the first concerts, Saint-Saens prohibited all further performances and declined to have the work published during his lifetime. He was justifiably fearful that this occasional work could eclipse his serious pieces. It was not until 1922 that the Carnaval set out to win the hearts of music lovers everywhere. This text-critical new edition by Peter Jost is based chiefly on the autograph, which diverges in certain essential points from the standard first edition available up to now. This new edition offers the first performance material of the Carnaval des animaux that can be purchased in its entirety Die erste Fassung des 'Schweinehirten' endet - wie bei Andersen - traurig. Als ich bei der Urauffuhrung der Oper damals in Dresden die Kinder erlebte wie sie fragten: 'Aber warum weint die Prinzessin warum hilft ihr denni keiner?' - da bin ich zu dem Schluss gekommen dass man das Ende der Oper nicht so lassen kann wie es ist. Sie muss irgendwie ausschwingen egal ob mit einem guten oder offenen Ausgang. Ich hatte mir ursprunglich keine Gedanken uber Kinder gemacht. Ich wusste nur dass ich keine Kinderklischees produzieren wollte so nette Kinderliedchen - ich wollte in der Sprache unseres Jahrhunderts schreiben. (Gerhard Schedl).
