Thank you for an awesome tab book. The tab is accurate unlike some that we find for free on-line. I also purchased a Ultimate Santana through your on-line store. It too, is awesome and accurate tab!

Generally, Hal Leonard's publications are first class. If the Signature Licks book is done by Wolf Marshall or Andy Aledort, close your eyes and buy it! I guarantee, you'll be amazed how good it is. This one is O.K. - at best. The sound itself doesn't even...

approximate the original (Marshall and Aledort go to lengths to use the right guitar/amp combination to achieve that). I do give some credit to Jeff Perrin for doing the songs that he did; I needed to find "Little Wing" by Clapton and even though he does only an excerpt, it's better than nothing.I'm positive it'll help me. But this book makes me appreciate Wolf Marshall and Andy Aledort even more. They are simply the best. Now, if only one of them would do the transcription of the guitar solo (bridge and outro) from "Goodbye to Love" by Tony Peluso (The Carpenters), I would be sooo (!) happy...

  • January 14, 2005 This Kind of Thing Ticks Me Off

This book DOES NOT contain tabliture/notation for ANY song. It contains bits and peices of songs because, according to Hal Leonard, this book is suposed to give you a look at Clapton's playing technique. That's a load of bull. I really don't know why anyone would...

want to buy a song book that only has bits and pieces of songs. I baught this book over the summer and am only now getting into it, realizing what a rip off it was for me. I did not know that this book only contained "licks". I feel cheated and will never buy another book from Hal Leonard again. I suspect all his books are written in a sneaky and dishonest manner.

Overall the book and CD is very uesful. However, CD is only for the partial licks and phrases. If you are looking for a full version CD and tablature, you can check the Acoustic version of Eric Clapton.

  • April 10, 2001 Needs slowed down for

Like all other Hal Leonard books, this is a great title. Great TAB, interesting guitar tidbits, and a good mix of Clapton's stuff from "Cream," "Derek" and "the Dominos" to his recent music; plugged and unplugged. One downfall is that the accompanying CD does not have slowed down samples...

of the licks like other "Signature Licks" book and CD combos. The "regular speed" versions are great but for rookies like me the slowed down clips allow you to really learn the sections. The only saving grace is that a lot of the blues numbers are slow to begin with and easy to follow.
