    Chapel Hill, NC
    Difficulty Level:
  • January 08, 2012 Great Piece, Bad Edition

This is a wonderful piece for flute and piano, extremely melodic, nuanced, and appealing. However, this edition has some extremely ambiguous markings for the pianist, especially in the first movement (pgs. 5,6,8) where there are a number of issues with ties across staves. Where one measure has a...

tie, the next measure (on the following stave) there is only a partial connection, leaving the pianist wondering which, if any should be held over. This is particularly disconcerting where there are accidentals. Besides the ambiguous editing, the month old copy is already losing its binding. Spend the extra money, and get another edition for this wonderful piece! It's worth it!
