    You can work on this piece all your life and never tire of it. Of course I feel that way about all of Straviky's piano music. This piece may be less forbidding--less icey-- than the Serenade en la, for example. It is neoclassical,--pseudo-classical--and uses tonic...

    against dominant (simultaneously)enough that many might find it hard to warm up to. But the quality of reserve can retain a freshness that makes you want to keep coming back to it.
