This book started it all for me back in 1974 when it was first published, and I still go back to it from time to time to freshen up my slide and to get some new ideas! Thanks, Arlen Roth!

How can I put this? The book has a nice amount of material. It even comes with a CD. With all that going for it, it fails at one very important point....TEACHING! The music in the CD moves at such a quick pace, it's impossible for a student...

to keep up with it. Don't be fooled, Mr Roth never plays actual titles from the book, you'll have to figure out how to play the songs on your own. What he gives you on the CD are basically jam sessions on how slide guitar is suppose to sound, but again it's at such a quick pace that a student cannot keep up with it. This book should be for people who know how to play slide guitar and want a few more songs under their belt. If you want to "learn" how to play slide, stay away from this very frustrating title.
