further, practising playing all sorts of pieces with the piano.The only thing that is missing in this score is the score to the piano accompaniments, though that would make it more expensive.The double-bassist who plays on the CD's is certainly professionnal, but I heard sudden jabs in the dynamics that could have been retaken during the recording. It is still nice to listen to and gives an pleasant idea of how the studies sound.Indeed they are called studies but they are pieces in their own right - some are good enough to play at a concert though they don't go very high and remain in the bass clef.This is a very good product on the whole and a good investment.

This book and its 2 cds are an outstanding contribution to double bass pedagogy. The Simandl etudes in this package show very good scholarship and fine musical artistry by Mr. Kohn.
