  • November 02, 2016 Good Score, but Misleading

This is a fine score for study purposes, and is a wonderful collection of Prokofiev's shorter works for piano. Unfortunately, Op. 4 is incomplete in this edition and I am unsure as to why. SheetMusicPlus's description of this set is misleading by not stating that only two pieces...

from this set are present. It would be nice, for future purchasers, if this was clarified in the product description.

  • April 26, 2013 Excellent!

I absolutely LOVE this book, it has almost every thing I wanted (I also wanted "Things in Themselves" and "Pensees"), and it's in a very good quality (almost perfect). The only thing I can think about that bothers me is that the book is almost too big for staying...

on the piano without falling.Completely recommended!

  • October 03, 2012 Check the dvertising!

I purchased this product specifically because the product description notes stated that it contained the piano pieces, opus 4. When I received it, I found that it only contained excerpts from that opus. Other than that, which for me is a considerable problem, this is a good product, the graphics...

are clean, the engraving is nice and large, easy to read. This is a good selection overall of Prokofiev's more popular smaller works. I would be happy if Dover could do a companion volume of the less played short works, and perhaps a volume of the transcriptions as well. Prokofiev is one of the 4 or 5 most important piano composers of the 20th century. It would be great if all his works were accessible.

  • June 27, 2012 Disappointed

This book includes quite a good collection of Prokofiev music for the price, but I was disappointed with the print quality, which is legible, but very uneven, including fading and differences in sharpness and ink shade. What was most frustrating was the inaccuracy of the sheetmusicplus site description. I purchased...

the book specifically for the Four Pieces Op. 4 which were included in the site description, but discovered that only two of the pieces are actually in the book.

  • May 04, 2011 Great collection!

This book contains a marvelous collection of pieces by Prokofiev. The Visions Fugitives are quite accessible to intermediate students and are a fantastic introduction to Prokofiev's unique percussive style to piano composing. The sarcasms are a wonderful set of pieces. The book also contains some lesser known pieces like...

the early etudes. The crowing jewel of this collection is the transcendental toccata which is incredibly difficult to play. This book is a fabulous buy for a cheap buy. Editions of better quality could be bought, but none would be as comprehensive and cheap as this great collection to any pianist's sheet music collection!Dover, as always, is not the highest quality. Dover publications, does however, excel at cramming huge amounts of pieces into one inexpensive book!
