Digital Sheet Music

By George Frideric Handel

Tenor saxophone solo and piano - Level 4 - Digital Download
Composed by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Arranged by Robert M. Ewing. Traditional, Sacred. Solo part and piano score. Composed 2001. Duration 4'15". Published by David E. Smith (DX.126122).

Item Number: DX.126122

Key: Ab.

Taken from the "Messiah", this tenor sax solo with piano is essentially a transcription of the original work. The balance in the writing between the solo and the accompaniment gives way to the sensitivity of the text of this well-know aria.

  • October 31, 2016 Fine choice for a soprano sax!

Could not find better timing. I was planning adding a small solo to a Christmas program we do at the church for our seniors, and this piece fits perfectly. The only rub is that instead of transposing the solo part, the arranger transposed the accompaniment. The pianist is used to...

playing the piece in the original key, so I ended up transposing the sax part. Actually, this made it easier to play! I'm coming back to the instrument after a long hiatus, and this piece is a truly excellent exercise. I'll definitely look for more pieces from this arranger.
