  • July 07, 2008 OUTSTANDING

This was an outstanding composition. I am a violinist and enjoy almost anything that Dvorak wrote, but this is by far his best. I loved how he combined traditional African folk music with romantic melodies. A wonderful composition!

  • June 07, 2006 Must play for all violists

As a violist, I most highly reccomend this standard piece of quartet repetoire to all other players of my instrument. Although the viola is not constantly featured, all of the accompianments are a delight to play.

  • April 17, 2006 Awesome work

This quartet brings to life the story of Dvorak. I loved how he used the Native and African American themes which he explored and came to love when he came to America. It's great for the ears and even better to play.

  • November 19, 2005 great but not perfect

this piece was really good, better than many i have heard before . I liked how the piece told a story . i also loved how third movement drove the piece forward so you knew something big would happen at the end. the ending wasn't as good as i thought it...

would be though. there was a good drive but the actual ending should have been longer, bigger, and louder, than it was. it was a piece which was much higher in quality than some of his other pieces but it wasn't perfect
