* The Prelude in E-flat, subtitled “St. Anne†gets its nickname from the similarity of its fugue theme and a hymn tune by William Croft, however, scholars feel there is no realistic connection, as Croft's work was only known in the British Isles.
* Originally written for organ in 1736, this great music is the crowning achievement of a large volume of works for that instrument.
* Mr. Sauer's 11-minute arrangement of this monumental Bach Prelude is brilliantly worked out to the last detail for an 8-part Trombone choir of advanced performers.
