  • December 06, 2011 Great piece for large choir

    This is an impressive version of this hymn. Mack Wilberg has a long history with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has arranged many pieces for them. I have been a choir director for many years and have performed many of his arrangements. This piece won't work for a small...

    group or choir, nor will it work for a beginning musician choir. You will also need a competent organist for this piece, though in an emergency, you could probably get by with a pianist, though it will be missing much of its 'oomph'. As with most Mack Wilberg arrangements, this piece ends rather dramatically, with 5 measures of 6 part harmony. The rest of the piece is 4 part harmony or less. It is a very good arrangement.

  • August 18, 2007 Solid piece from Mack Wilberg

    I enjoy this piece very much. This further emphasizes Wilberg as being one of the greatest composers alive today, if not the greatest. I rated this a 4 instead of a 5 mainly because he has written better pieces of a similar nature.

    This piece is deceptively simple. Starts unison, and builds to a thundering climax in four parts, a few measures with 6-8 parts. Beautiful climax, high A soprano. Good youth choir can do a great job, large adult choir can do it justice. Well crafted piece.
