A beautiful and demanding piece for both me and my daughter

This is one of the most dramatic pieces for flute. It is very lyrical yet requires a touch of virtustic ability to perform this. Its one of those peices thats hauntingly beautiful. If you liked this peice, you will like the Ibert peice for flute alone.

This piece is an excellent demonstration of the various moods that the flute is capable of producing. Not only does it provide for an excellent solo performance, but it also serves as strong contest material as well. Color, color and more color is evident throughout the piece. However, it's...

difficult to feel and create the emotional side of the music if you have not first heard a recording. I recommend doing this in order to place the melody in context to get the complete sound. It's a great piece, you should definitely give it a try!

  • August 26, 2007 Favorite piece in the flute repertoire

I think this piece is a very dark and emotional piece that can be played with a lot of lyricism. It is very powerful and uplifting.

  • June 18, 2007 Not so great.

This music was bought because it was an all-state audition piece. I thought it was going to be a slow and beautiful song, but this song was quite different. It had odd chords and a weird rythm. It's a quite easy song to play once you get the...

hang of it but it doesn't sound so beautiful if you ask me. It's hard to understand the sheet music too. If you have experience with sheet music and are looking for something different, unique, and a slow piece, Poem by Charles Griffes may be perfect for you.
