The CD is great. The songs are a bit simplified, but with proper practice they will sound good. If you are a Paco Pena fan and a guitar player, it's a must. But I found that some of the notation in the scores were difficult to interpret and also...

the the CD's recordings use a capo (which is not reflected in the scores.). So you can't play along to the CD unless you have a capo, and don't expect the songs to sound like the cd without one.

  • December 04, 2004 Excellent Traditional Flamenco

The CD is great to listen to. The transcroption (staff) accurately reflects what is played in the CD. However, in some places (such as the Sevillana), the guitarist introduces variations within the first copla that are not in the staff music. The student can reproduce those variations by just listening...

to the CD though. The music faithfully reflects the elements of traditional flamenco music. The book also contains valuable historic information as well as a review of the rhythemic structures in flamenco.
