Haydn wrote his Mass No. 3, also known as Missa in Angustiis, and also as the Lord Nelson Mass, during Austrian wartime turmoil in 1798. Lord Nelson's name became associated with the Mass because of his victory against Napolean, the news of which coincided with the work's premier performance in September, 1798. This score presents the choral portion of the Mass in Latin and English, with each voice on a separate staff, including solos and an organ reduction of the orchestral portion for accompaniment or rehearsal. 80 pages. Includes: Kyrie * Gloria * Credo * Sanctus * Benedictus * Agnus Dei.

  • January 23, 2020 Horrible! Pay a few extra $$ for a better edition!

The print is horrible!! You can’t tell the difference between eighth/sixteenth notes because the lines bleed together. There are no measure numbers nor rehearsal letters. There are typos and misprints on parts. And alto and bass lines do not have their own line of text (you must look...

up to the soprano or tenor lines). This is the cheapest version available but I would HIGHLY recommend paying a few extra bucks for a better edition!

I would recommend comparing editions before making a purchase. I purchased this for a mass choir setting, and I wish I had purchased a copy with section number [A], [B], etc and measure numbers. Otherwise, it served the purpose.

  • January 24, 2017 Hard to Read

Beautiful music but this edition is very hard to read. There are misplaced dots, lines for two 16th notes are one large blob. The print is small. It seems to have easier notes for the soprano soloist but they are hard to read and and look out of place.
