I bought this to serve as a piano solo, and it does so very well, with a few changes here and there.

First of all hearing two of my favorite divas: Leontyne Price and Renee Fleming singing this song lead me into finding this song. Am so happy to secure just the piece itself. The vocal piece came woderfully packed and clealy printed!

This is a transcription (which I believe Korngold himself did) of his aria "Marietta's Lied" from his opera "Die tote Stadt" from Op. 12. It is an extremely beautiful aria that has been nicely reduced from the original soprano with orchestra to violin and piano. A lot of the...

darker and richer textures from the orchestral sound are maintained in the piano. The edition is beautiful as are all Schott editions: durable, (shiny, that's nice), very legible, and on good paper. The editing of the violin part, however, is not great. This edition, in my opinion, is not "ready to play". Alternate bowings and almost certainly fingerings will be necessarily fleshed out by the performer. (It is similar to the score for the Violin Concerto by Korngold, op. 35, if the performer has used that music). It requires a lot of "individual influence" as well as maturity and a full understanding of the aria, which is why I rated this title as "advanced." I hope this review was helpful!
