Wopuld love to use this. Solos are a fine learning tool. However, the range gets higher than my interm. kids can good and this takes them out of the piece.Advanced stuff but only because of the range, otherwise doable.

I purchased this along with Volume III J.J. Johnson, which I just reviewed. Since this involves learning how to improvise in J.J.'s particular B-bop style, I'm holding off on this book until I've mastered the other book. At a glance, the transcriptions look perfect...

, and I'm looking forward to getting to the point where I'm ready to follow the book's advice on how to do improv, things you don't get to learn in school at any level (I achieved a semi-professional level of play after a music minor in college). It should be a great experience, when I get there.
