    Difficulty Level:
  • September 11, 2011 A very well written work.

    * Mvt. 1 is a relatively difficult pedal solo that after a bit of practice will be an effective "crowd pleaser" * Mvt. 2 is a manuals only piece that is not terribly difficult technically, but that is an interpretive skills challenge.*Mvt. 3, named "levity" requires considerable manual and pedal technique...

to bring it off convincingly. It's fast-paced, so the performer's attention must not flag. This one would be a good movement to memorize!* Mvt. 4 is in ABA form, commencing with a very improvisatory slow movement, a fast and rather difficult B section, and a return to the A section.* Mvt. 5, the final and perhaps best Invention of the set begins with a left hand ostinato and a florid right hand part that proceeds without the pedals for quite a little while. Eventually the pedal joins in with the left hand ostinato, building constantly in volume and agitation unbearably until the immediate halt of sound.
