My uncle and my gentlemen cousins sang this song at our wedding while my father and mother-in-law were escorted in and lite the candles to the Unity Candle just prior to the ceremony. It was so wonderful, my husband had tears in his eyes. After this song was...

sung, our processional began. I couldn't have imagined it any other way. I am glad my uncle asked to sing this beautiful song as a tribute to our parents.

I heard this for the first time at a funeral for a dear friend and really loved it. I would like it as a solo or barbershop arrangement.

I couldn't understand the lyrics as sung. I was hoping to be able to read the lyrics as it was sung.

  • May 14, 2006 Touching and beautiful!

I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry is a very touching anthem. Our choir loves it. The piece is just beautiful. It speaks to God as caregiver and nurturer. This year our choir sang it for Mother’s Day and it was very appropriate. We see in the intimacy...

of our mother’s involvement and presence in our lives a reflection of God’s. God is there for us when we don’t even know it. We used a Recorder for the solo C instrument. Last year we used a soprano recorder. This year the Alto Recorder seemed mellower. I sing in the church choir and enjoy traditional music and a few modern composers (John Helgen, John Rutter and Hal Hopson).
