    Gabriel H.
    Difficulty Level:
  • December 03, 2008 A Classic Liszt Piece

This piece is stunning. Very good indeed. I wish that I had been told that the commentary was in French, by Alfred Cortot, because I don't read French, however, the music is the same. It is very complex, and actually sounds horrid when first played, because of all of...

the dissonance that Liszt uses. However, his resolutions are impeccable, and his climaxes thunderous. Once learned, this is an outstanding piece of Music, quite worth the time spent practicing. To give some perspective on its difficulty, here is how it went with me. I am not a great pianist, but I do play in my Church, so you get the idea of where I'm coming from. It took me an hour and a half to two hours to first sight-read it. It is supposed to be played in six minutes.... All in all, I give it thunderous applause, and recommend that you purchase it- if you are willing to work hard, and especially if you can read French! :D
