SA/TB Part-dominant Rehearsal CD for "Go Sing It on the Mountain" - 65/2073L The birth of Jesus is a scene of awe-inspiring humility: God in human form, born in a lowly manger for our salvation. Pepper Choplin's distinctive, folk-infused musical style is particularly well-suited to capture this story. Employing a highly-inventive mixture of mountain melodies, folk hymns, spirituals, familiar carols, and original music that is sure to surprise and delight, Go Sing It on the Mountain proclaims the good news from the prophet Isaiah's proclamation, "Comfort, O comfort my people, to the final exuberant celebration: Joy to the World! Christ is born!" Solos, Duets, and Trios shine the spotlight on featured singers and nicely complement the SATB choruses.

This is the third Pepper Choplin cantata that our church choir has done (we previously did "Night of the Father's Love" and "Upon This Rock"). They are enjoyable to sing, and the performances get a great reception by our congregation. We also sing individual pieces throughout the church year...

for services as appropriate to the liturgy of the day or season. Our director doesn't feel it is worthwhile to have people use the part-dominant CD for learning, but I do, so I personally buy it and share it with other members of our choir, to more easily learn the pieces. It sounds like you are in the middle of your section in Pepper Choplin's choir, hearing the other parts and the instrumentation, but mainly your part (by people who know what they are doing). Very enjoyable and a great aid.
