Another winner from Mark Hayes! This is a sophisticated piece with a walking-bass piano accompaniment. The traditional Spiritual text is cleverly expanded upon with additional Moses narrative from the Exodus. Very useful.

  • May 04, 2008 very fun choir piece

I liked this one we sang it at festival this year pulled off a superior rating on it. while it is a fun jazz piece, you have to keep in mind that it's still choir and not all jazz.

  • July 12, 2006 Need a dynamic pianist to pull this off

I have performed this piece with 2 outstanding adult community chorus (with very stringent auditions). This piece will never work well without a pianist who can kick it in gear, a director who knows about musicianship and a group with discipline. A huge joy to sing, play, conduct and perform...

I was forced to sing this song in my 7th. grade choir. At first the rhythm was hard, but once we learned the song we had a blast. I'm glad Mrs. Walters picked this song.

I am presently a choral member of the Tempe Community Chorus. I have been singing for over 30 years now. I like almost any kind of music. This is a jazzy spiritual. I did not know this piece so found the rhythm difficult at first. This is a fun song...

to do. The women have a nice little duet part (as well as the men). I love the way it ends as the parts build up to the final “Let my people go! You gotta have rhythm to do this song though! Snapping fingers a plus!
