Finger Exercises for the Cello, Book One

By Cassia Harvey

Cello - Early Intermediate
Composed by Cassia Harvey. Finger Exercises for the Cello. An essential beginning cello technique book that helps you play with faster fingers and better intonation in first position. Instructional, string techniques. Book. C. Harvey Publications #CHP101. Published by C. Harvey Publications (CH.CHP101).

Item Number: CH.CHP101

ISBN 978-1932823011. 8.5 x 11 in inches.

This book of music exercises trains the first-year cello student's left hand in strength and agility using a closed first position. Intended to continue where Beginning Technique for the Cello (CHP110) finished, Finger Exercises also includes elementary double stop exercises to encourage correct left hand and finger alignment. This is not a book of calisthenic exercises away from the cello, but rather a set of music studies that can be played to prepare the cellist for the rigors of the cello repertoire. Intended for use with an instructor, this book could also be played by adult self-learners if they know the notes in closed first position on all four strings.

  • August 26, 2019 Wonderful for warm ups

Sequences and repetitions really help warming up and sight seeing/recognition of patterns we see all the time in music. Gets those fingers moving. I start very slowly then increase only if I can play correctly every time. Great way to practice rhythms as well. There are 48 different etudes...

with fingerings clearly marked. Music EASY to read.
