Fantasies & Delusions is the next chapter in Billy Joel's life-long love affair with the piano. Before the world-renowned 'Piano Man' ever discovered pop, he grew up studying classical piano, already feeling the influences of Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Schubert, Schumann and many others. Although he ran away with the seductress named Rock'n'Roll as a teenager, 30 years later he returns to where he began to pay tribute to the music that made him fall in love with music in the first place. This matching folio features all 12 pieces from the album, as performed by Richard Joo.

The music here might best be described as film music. As serious music, there is a lack of direction and structure. Billy's best work is as a lyricist. Elton John writes more sophisticated music and lets Bernie Taupin write the words. Billy's music covers many styles and voice...

types. There is some interesting work in his early albums from the Seventies.

I was classically trained as a pianist, but have always loved and played all kinds of music. My children introduced me to Rock n Roll! I love Billy Joel's songs and was thrilled to learn he composed this classical music. I bought the cd as well. My favorite is...

nunleys waltz. A truly modern day musical genius!

Even though you think of Billy Joel for "Piano Man", or "The Stranger" here is a book with, arguably, his best compositions he's ever written. I bought the music with the CD, and it is perfect! The notes in the book match the CD to the very minute details...

! I recommend this book to any Billy Joel fan or classical musician. With Schirmer publishing it, you know you have accurate music!

I thought this was 'the' Billy Joel - Mr Piano Man, however although the cover says Billy Joel in big letters, then you see that it's actually a 'William Joel'. Not quite the same bloke! Will give it a go though. [Editor's note: these pieces, while more classical in...

nature, are written by the same Billy Joel who wrote "Piano Man."]
