By Gabriel Faure

Trombone and piano - Intermediate
Composed by Gabriel Faure (1845-1924). Arranged by Valory Strobel. French Impressionist Solo. Full score & set of parts. Published by Cherry Classics (CY.CC2174).

Item Number: CY.CC2174

Faure's haunting & serious Elegie, originally written for Cello has been transcribed for Trombone & Piano by Val Strobel. This work is for a moderately advanced Trombonist in bass & tenor clef. The piano part needs a player with good technique. Range is from a low C below the staff to a high C and is about 4 minutes in length. This work can be performed on a Tenor or Bass Trombone (with a good high C). This excellent transcription will make a fine addition to any recital program.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous. The lines and melodic phrases just beg for expression. It is also quite difficult. It takes good trigger technique and a booming low register and lots of control. It includes holding a low C for 2 measures at Pianissimo at quarter note = 50. This is...

a great college piece and will add awe to any recital repertoire.
