I disagree entirely with the other reviewer! If the purpose of a performance is to entertain an audience, this piece should be high on your list. I heard a touring american choir perform this last summer, and it was amazingly effective. It may not be the most melodically or harmonically...

exciting work to sing, but then it only lasts a couple of minutes. The audience will be amused, entertained and enthused.

Although Mosquitoes is probably the most interesting piece from Stephen Chatman's 5-part "Due North", it is not worth performing. It is repetitive, uninteresting, and annoying. With all the bzzing that occurs in the piece, the notes are lost in a cesspool of noise. If you are looking for...

a nice etude to test your counting skills and your aural fortitude, by all means, get this piece. Otherwise, I suggest skipping over it to something with some sort of musical value.
