    My duet partner and I read through numerous Christmas arrangements yesterday. When we finished the first one of this book we both said "This is the real thing. This is real composing by a composer who takes these songs seriously." By comparison the other arrangers sound cutesy. I have played...

    "contemporary" music for over 50 years and have studied Dello Joio's 3rd Sonata. He is a thoughtful craftsman. I hope those reviewers who didn't like these duets will explore his music and gain a taste for it.

    If you like unique music and a different take on some traditional favorites, these great arrangements are perfect. This music has become a part of our Christmas every year.

    I had assumed this would be Christmas music to sing along to. The music included is largely unfamiliar and I doubt I will open the book again.

    These Christmas carols are brilliantly written in keeping with their traditional sound, yet contain little twists and surprises that keep things interesting!
