  • October 02, 2012 Great Pieces!

Overall I am very pleased with this Book and CD. In fact I also bought the piano book to go with it.The reason I only gave it four stars is the CD is not programmed correctly. The titles on the CD have nothing to do with the order of...

songs. And the songs so out of order it is impossible to relate to the music. In fact there is one song (with and without the lead part) that isn't in the collection at all!I have contacted them and am told a correct CD will be sent to me.

Very nice arrangements and accompaniment CD. Some technical phrases might need practice for even an intermediate player, but the overall level is mid-intermediate. I have several Christmas books with and without accompaniment CD's, and this is one of my favorites.

  • January 09, 2009 Nice!

This book has some great traditional Christmas tunes. The arrangements are straightforward and easy to read. The backing music is professional in every way, with real instruments (not MIDI) and fine players. The alto sax player that does the demo track is a great player that offers good insight into...

how the song should sound. The only negative is that the order on the cd has a demo song, then the track minus the soloist. This is awkward if you are intending to perform with the cd. It would have been nice to have the demo tracks and backing tracks on different cd's or at least divided up. Other than that, I agree with one earlier comment that the Nutcracker Suite is definitely more on the advanced side, though is easy to tackle after a little practice. All in all, it would be great for a more formal Christmas party where the player is playing in the background.

  • December 21, 2007 Great challenging music, but CD problems

Very challenging songs, but beautiful songs. Better for flute than saxophone. I enjoy this album the most of all my Christmas play along collections. However, be aware that there is a problem with the song order on the CD vs the music booklet for the Nutcracker Suite and Folk Carol...

    Suite.
