Our world music group sang this a few years before I joined and the recording of our soloist and SATB back-up was so lovely I wanted to find more of Hernandez' pieces. Glad others agree that this is a gem of a lullaby to be sung in original language...

This lullaby song captures my heart. The interweaving of the various vocal parts transforms this music to a high level of ecstasy. Definitely a song to showcase your alto soloist or even your soprano soloist when modulated to a higher key.

This lullaby originates from the Bicol region of the Philippines, and it is both soothing and melancholy. Its melody highlights childhood memories which make this lullaby appealing even to the grown ups. The song sets an aura of mysticism, aureoling the mother-son/daughter relationship with divinity, reflective of the...

deep religiosity of the Bicolanos. However, its beauty is not only for those who believe in the image of Mary. A treasure of the Philippines, Caturog na Nonoy will surely appeal to anyone who still believes in the importance of their mothers.
