"Carmen" is one of the most frequently performed operas in the world and the genesis of the work is exceptionally well documented. In spite of this, none of the editions published after the composer's death correspond to his intentions. Now Didion's edition, of which a piano reduction (ED 7965) has already been published, at last reproduces the work as intended by Bizet. This new edition of the score draws on detailed study of sources not previously used.

    Difficulty Level:
  • February 05, 2012 Too small...

This new edition of Carmen is a great score for reference, but unfornately a notch or two too small for any practical use. The print is clean and tidy, the binding is sturdy, and it feels great in your hand. However, it is too small for any real use -- although...

the print is clear, it is tiny. Also, the paper could be of better quality -- it's a bit thin so markings would probably show through, and as white as computer paper. For reference though (especially if you are a coach), this is ideal.
