God speaks in this powerful anthem. The first person text paints a brilliantly beautiful description of Creation as seen through God's own eyes. Indescribable wonder and awe are captured and put into word and sound, yet the most awesome and powerful moment in Canticle of the Creator comes at the end: “Where were you?...I chose you; I was there.” Incredible.

I am the Organist of the Mother Of God Church in Covington, KY, a beautiful churh with a rich history. A special mass partly in German is sung in October every year, and I had that choir buy this anthem. In it, God is having a conversation regarding Creation. I...

performed it when I was Music Director at Pleasant Run Presbyterian in the Cincinnati area, and thought it a good choice. But my setting of the "Great Commission", also on this site, was selected and Canticle left out. I will keep trying to get that special Choir to place this anthem on another occasion.
