In 1929-30, Swiss composer Frank Martin completed about 3/4 of a Christmas cantata, drawing the French texts from a 1749 New Testament. As Martin had orchestrated the music he had already composed, with the addition of a repeat of an earlier choral section, we now have 44' of...

splendid, often florid and ecstatic music, inspired by the Byzantine mosaics that Martin had seen in Ravenna. Scored for 28 strings plus 2 viole da gamba, harpsichord and organ, with mixed chorus, boys' chorus and a number of solo parts, of which the Angel Gabriel (boy soprano) is the longest and most challenging, even in not-quite-complete form this is a major addition to the repertoire. (A recording has been issued on Musiques Suisses MGB CD 6259, and may be ordered through their website.) Anyone who knows and loves Martin's a cappella 'Mass' will want to investigate this.
