This book teaches students how to play the violin. It tells you how to hold the bow, and which note to play, in playing a certain tune. It also has pieces for violin trio, and for violin quartet.

  • February 25, 2009 Good beginner book for adults

I am taking violin lessons as a brand new beginner to stringed instruments. My violin teacher recommended this as my first book. I already know how to read music so this book has been very easy to follow. Certain things that you learn from your instructor such as bowing technique...

, leading with the elbow, etc. are not covered in this book so I highly recommend working with an instructor if purchasing this book.

  • November 27, 2008 nice begginers book

This is a good book, but I wouldn't recommend it for a "one and only" book on how to play violin. I haven't used it a lot yet, but am looking forward to it. It has a good variety of excerises and tunes, which is great!
