I've found this book and CD quite useful--especially for performances in rehab/rest homes. I also own the Classic Top Ten Celtic (my favorite of the two). I like the piano accompaniment in both of these. Accompaniment isn't fancy but it allows for the flutest to improvise...

and be the star--which is what all real-life accompanists should do to keep the attention on the soloist. The accompaniment dynamics (crescendos, diminuendos, ritards) seem to be in the right places which encourages the soloist to play correctly and with feeling. Easy to play along with and great for non-professional performances. I really like that this book also has a separate piano accompaniment book included. I use these books over and over. Good for low-key/casual performances.

I found this book and CD to be disappointing and dull. The flute score itself is okay, but the disc is useless. In my opinion, the reason to purchase a CD accompaniment is to fill out and enhance the sound of your performance, and to make the experience more enjoyable...

. The CD with this book is a struggle, not an aid. The accompaniments are simplistic, rushed and without expression.
