This music is sonorous, shimmering, and ties itself to your heart. The poetry sighs effortlessly through the music. The piece is definitely a go for fans of the 9th chord. The voice leading is a choral enthusiast's dream. The haunting poetry of Octavio Paz and musical genius of Whitacre...

make this piece the gem of any concert. Five stars all the way. Poweful music with a powerful message.

I sung this song in my high school's Concert Choir my junior year. This peice was the most beautifully crafted song I have ever sung. It has gone down as one of the most all time loved and cherished song that my choir has ever sung. The rich harmonies...

and gorgeous cluster chords are definetly food for the ears and soul. This song should be sung by every advanced choir at least once!

The english language has yet to develop words that define such a tender piece. Very tense, and very difficult. I am a member of a choir that recently traveled to a competition in London, and our Concert Choir took 1st Place with this piece.
