  • October 22, 2019 Practically a family heirloom

I had borrowed my mother's copy, which was falling apart, and when she wanted it back, I didn't know how I would replace it. Thank you, Sheet Music Plus, for carrying such a great selection of classical piano music, including Schirmer's collection of Field's nocturnes

  • July 29, 2012 challenging and fun

Field was the first to write the nocturne, Chopin and others followed his lead. The Field Nocturnes appear easy, but they have their challenges, as do Chopin and Listz. Beautiful melodies, give them a try!

  • June 24, 2012 FIELD 18 Nocturnes For Piano

Nearly perfect. I'd give it 5 and a half stars if possible, because Liszt's essay is printed with his 2nd and 3rd pages in reverse order. A small problem, so it can be overlooked. This book is high quality, with clear and clean music and helpful numbered fingerings...

. Also has a "biographical sketch" written in 1890s.

  • October 13, 2008 John Field's Nocturne # 9 in e minor

I was very happy to find this music. It was played in the White Countess and is very beautiful but difficult to find. I play only for my own enjoyment having taken lessons as a child. I had never heard of John Field before but very glad to have found...

    him.

  • October 10, 2008 Great Music - minor print problem

I truly enjoy these for teaching my students Nocturnes. It is a great stepping point to the Nocturnes of Chopin and others, who were influenced by Field's. This is a wonderful collection and a great addition to study rep for students moving into romantic rep, and lovely pieces to...

    play and listen to.
