  • March 03, 2015 Nice arrangement of K. 487

This is an arrangement of Mozart's "Duos for Two Horns," K. 487. It's scored in F, making the top line a good fit for recorders in C. The edition also suggests playing the duets with alto recorder and viola, but I can't see this working well because...

it goes down as deep as low C pretty frequently. The soprano will occasionally need to go up to high B-flat and C, which can be challenging for beginners. I'm not a violinist, so I can't speak for how well the second line works for violin, viola, etc. As for the music itself, hey, it's Mozart. It's as charming as you would expect.
