    Though this is a volume one book, you should have had some instruction in reading notes and such before starting here. I marked it as intermediate for this reason. I took up cello after 5 years of violin study and found that after sailing through the first three Suzuki books...

    this was just the right level for practical/technique studies that I need. Suzuki, though good, tends to rely heavily on giving you the fingerings (at least in the first 3 books)and it can become a crutch. This book really gives your left hand a workout and keeps your bow arm moving and, because there are very few fingerings, it forces you to really learn to practice notes instead of numbers.
