Genessa West started playing clarinet at school, then as a Junior Exhibitioner at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. After leaving school, she studied at Guildhall fulltime, taught by Yona Ettlinger, principal clarinettist of Israel Philharmonic. After graduation Genessa taught clarinet, saxophone and flute, in schools, mainly in the London area. Throughout her career, Genessa conducted bands and woodwind chamber music. She arranged music for her own students, and for the groups that she directed. Most of her work is for clarinet quartet or clarinet choir, but some is for other woodwind instruments. Genessa’s music has been widely available as hard copies for many years, but moving with the times, she’s now concentrating on music for digital download.
