Johann Anton Kozeluch (1738-1814) worked as a music teacher and church musician in Prague. The Bassoon Concerto in C major is one of many concertos for solo instrument and orchestra in the composer's work catalogue.

The musical text of the present edition is based on the material from the Prague National Museum. The publication of this edition secured the work a lasting place in the bassoon repertoire. 1716 in einem Sammeldruck von sechs Konzerten fur verschiedene Soloinstrumente zu dem auch Tomaso Albinoni und Antonio Vivaldi als Komponisten beigetragen hatten. Bereits zuvor hatte Johann Sebastian Bach von diesem Werk eine Transkription fur Cembalo (BWV 974) erstellt. Da sich ein Grossteil der Verzierungen Bachs auf der Oboe gut realisieren lasst ubernahm der Herausgeber diese Ausarbeitung in die vorliegende Ausgabe. around 1716 in a collective print of six concertos for various solo instruments to which Tomaso Albinoni and Antonio Vivaldi also contributed some works. Johann Sebastian Bach had previously produced a transcription of this work for harpsichord (BWV 974). Since a large part of Bach's ornaments can be comfortably transposed to.
