Jupiter is the most massive of all the planets and rotates on its axis quicker than any other. This movement is energetic and captures feelings of enthusiasm, expansiveness, and honor. In mythology, Jupiter the god of the sky and lightning is also known as Jove, which is where the term “jovial” is derived from.

This arrangement is for a flute orchestra or large flute choir consisting of 2 piccolos, 6 flutes, 3 alto flutes, 2 bass flutes, and 1 contrabass flute.  Parts may be doubled with more players as necessary. The contrabass flute reads the same part as bass flute 2 and has a few instructions for when to tacet. If needed, the contrabass flute may be omitted with no problem.
