This set of three-part fantasies (numbers 1 to 3) by the English composer Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625) has been arranged for string trio (violin, viola and cello or two violins and cello). The music could also be played on soprano, alto/tenor and bass recorders. The duration of the music is about ten minutes and these pieces are both delightful to play and could supplement a concert or be useful in a wide-range of performance situations. The standard is suitable for amateur players.
