Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958, England)
Vaugh Williams firmly believed that music should be accessible to everyone. Many of his works are intended for amateur and student performance, and he is well-known as a composer of symphonies and other concert works. He was strongly influenced by Tudor music and English folk-song, and studied under French composer Maurice Ravel.
Vaughan Williams' works include operas, ballets, chamber music, vocal solos, choral, and orchestral works. Among his most famous works are Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and The Lark Ascending.
