Georg Philipp Telemann Sheet Music
About Georg Philipp Telemann
(1681-1767) Baroque Period – Germany
Telemann was a composer and multi-instrumentalist that was almost completely self-taught in music. By self-teaching, he acquired great facility in composing and in playing such diverse musical instruments as the violin, recorder, oboe, viola, clarinet, and keyboard. While studying at the University of Leipzig, he assisted the organist, Johann Kuhnau, by composing church cantatas and also fulfilling the organist position at the university chapel. He composed equally as well for the church as for opera and concerts.
